Juan Diaz

In loving memory of Juan Diaz

Having led a fulfilling life surrounded by his beautiful bride of 50 years, his four loving children, and his eight tender-hearted grandchildren, Juan Diaz, aged 74, peacefully departed to be with our Lord on January 23, 2024.

Born into a family of ten children, Juan quickly grasped the significance of education, setting the foundation for a life well lived. Initiating his career as an engineer in Mexico, he aspired to provide his young family with a brighter future in the United States. With unwavering determination and a strong work ethic, Juan worked tirelessly, holding two jobs upon settling in Chicago, Illinois.

He was a firm believer in the power of a strong family unit and eventually found stability in Houston, TX where he became a dedicated bilingual teacher for many years. He was an animated educator, often trying to bring his classroom alive by acquiring rocks, insects, and a multitude of books for his students. He was also a collector of many things; motorcycle replicas, Elvis paraphernalia, and world history facts. However, his most cherished collection was the display of his family’s photographs – a source of immense pride and joy.

His love for Oldies music, along with Mexican Rancheras, was always evident on Sunday mornings (and on many family road trips), through his lively singing which was a joyous expression he shared with any audience. He always had an upbeat and energetic disposition – one of his favorite sayings from an 80’s song was, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.

He will eternally rest in the memories and hearts of his beloved family.
