Rhina Susana Gutiérrez Cantu, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 surrounded by her children. She was born on October 31, 1955 in El Salvador to Maria Susana Alas and Luis Ramon Gutiérrez. Rhina was married to Jaime Cantu, who has since passed.
Rhina loved to be social. Her smile was contagious, and her personality was one of a kind. She loved to listen to music and dance. To know her was to love her. Throughout her lifetime she was a secretary, a beautician, and an aesthetician but her biggest accomplishment was being a beloved grandmother. She spoiled them any chance she got.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Jessica Tran and Cruz Rosales. Mother-in-law to Duy Tran. Adored abuela to Olivia, Emma and Lucas. And loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was also a great friend and would go above and beyond for those she loved.
Rhina leaves behind a lesson to learn in life that no matter what happens to you, you hold your head up high and continue giving it your all. She was very strong during her battle with cancer, but she didn’t let it define her. She always looked her best even if she didn’t feel her best. We will miss her dearly.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 4pm to 8 pm at Leal Funeral Home located at 11123 Katy Fwy Houston, TX 77079.
Family will gather for service from 11am to 12pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Leal Funeral Home prior to burial.
Burial will then take place at 1pm at Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038

Sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “Jesus plainly told her: I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25.
Siempre alegre y positiva. Me llamabas “mi hermana chiquita”.
