Maria de la Luz Lopez

Maria de la Luz Lopez passed away at 97 years old on Tuesday, November 1st, All Saints Day, at 5:00 pm. She died naturally and peacefully during one of her naps.

Mamaluz was born on April 25, 1925, in Zacatecas, Mexico to parents Jose Pacheco and Isabela Munoz. Mamaluz was one of five siblings- one sister and three brothers- all whom have perished already.

Mamaluz started working early on in life and worked her way into being a nurse in Mexico, vaccinating members of her town.

After being widowed at a very young age to Carlos Roman, Mamaluz married Rosalio Lopez. She was an amazingly selfless woman that dedicated her life to 3 sons and 7 daughters.

She loved her life and lived it to its fullest with so many people that surrounded her daily- filling her days with love and hugs and kisses (even if the hugs and kisses annoyed her sometimes!). She loved sweets, singing at every opportunity and family event, gifting away her cherished personal items, and loved her family more than anything.

Mamaluz is survived by her 7 daughters Socorro, Rosa, Irma, Sandra, Marisela, Teresa, Lorena and her son, Marco as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We greatly mourn the loss of the Lopez and Pacheco matriarch.
