Jose Maria Melchor

Jose Maria Melchor “Chemo” was called home to Heaven on April 2, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born in Wealder, TX, on March 24, 1931, the firstborn of nine to Benito Melchor and Esther Renteria Melchor. The Melchor family moved to East Bernard when Chemo was a teenager. In East Bernard, he attended school and worked to help his family. At the age of 18, he took a job in a furniture shop that launched his life-long passion and career as a master carpenter. He was a hard-working man known to work from sunset to sundown. However, one of the many beautiful things about Chemo was that he understood how to put first things first. Chemo was a Godly man that kept the Lord first and his family a close second. He had an incredible ability of knowing how to balance life and still give time, love, and compassion to everyone he loved. Those close to Chemo will be quick to say that in addition to loving God, his family, and work, Chemo also had a passion and love for nature and the outdoors. Whether it was planting something new in the soil, on a deer hunt, or soaking bait in the ocean, what mattered to him most was that he found peace in God’s presence while doing these things.
Chemo is survived by his wife, nine children, thirteen grandchildren, one great grandson, and six siblings.Jose Maria was a loving and faithful husband to Ofelia Melchor for 45 years. He was a loving father to his ten children, Jose Maria Jr. Melchor, Daniel Melchor, Roberto Melchor, Alfredo Melchor, Ricardo Melchor, Orlando Almazan, Luis Almazan, Hector Melchor, Gloria Melchor, and Erika Gonzalez, with whom he shared his wisdom, kindness, generosity, compassion, and joyful heart. He was the most adoring grandfather to Elizabeth Melchor, Adrian Melchor, Antonio Melchor, Joanna Almazan, Isabel Almazan, Gustavo Almazan, Angelo Melchor, Nayeli Melchor, Lucas Gonzalez, Galilea Gonzalez, Savanna Melchor, Angela Melchor, and Alfredo Jr. Melchor, as well as a loving great grandfather to Damian Almazan. He was a caring older brother to Elena Martinez, Genoveva Rodriguez, Amelia Melchor, Benny Melchor, Janie Montoya, and Lupe Kave.
Chemo is predeceased by his parents, Benito and Esther Melchor, son Ricardo Melchor, sister Basilisa Arreguin, brother Moises Melchor, and son in law Carlos Rivera, Jr.
José María Melchor “Chemo” regreso a los brazos de Dios Padre, el 2 de abril de 2022, a la edad de 91 años. Nació en Wealder, TX, el 24 de marzo de 1931, el primogénito de nueve hijos de Benito Melchor y Esther Rentería Melchor. La familia Melchor se mudó a East Bernard cuando Chemo era un adolescente. En East Bernard, asistió a la escuela y trabajó para ayudar a su familia. A la edad de 18 años, tomó un trabajo en una tienda de muebles que lanzó su pasión y carrera de toda la vida como carpintero profesional. Era un hombre trabajador conocido por trabajar de amanecer a anochecer. Sin embargo, una de las muchas cualidades hermosas de Chemo fue que entendió cómo poner primero lo primero. Chemo era un hombre piadoso que mantuvo al Señor primero y a su familia en segundo lugar. Tenía una habilidad increíble para saber cómo equilibrar la vida y aún así dar tiempo, amor y compasión a todos los que amaba. Las personas cercanas a Chemo se apresurarán a decir que además de amar a Dios, a su familia y el trabajo, Chemo también tenía pasión y amor por la naturaleza y el aire libre. Ya fuera plantando algo nuevo en la tierra, de cacería, o de pesca en el mar, lo que más le importaba era encontrar paz en la presencia de Dios mientras hacía estas cosas.
A Chemo le sobreviven su esposa, nueve hijos, trece nietos, un bisnieto, y seis hermanos. José María fue un amado y fiel esposo de Ofelia Melchor durante 45 años. Fue un padre amoroso para sus diez hijos, José María Jr. Melchor, Daniel Melchor, Roberto Melchor, Alfredo Melchor, Ricardo Melchor, Orlando Almazán, Luis Almazán, Héctor Melchor, Gloria Melchor y Erika González, con quienes compartió su sabiduría, bondad, generosidad, compasión y corazón alegre. Fue el abuelo más adorado de Elizabeth Melchor, Adrián Melchor, Antonio Melchor, Joanna Almazan, Isabel Almazán, Gustavo Almazán, Ángelo Melchor, Nayeli Melchor, Lucas González, Galilea González, Sabana Melchor, Ángela Melchor y Alfredo Jr. Melchor, así como un amoroso bisabuelo de Damián Almazán. Chemo fue un hermano cariñoso conElena Martinez, Genoveva Rodriguez, Amelia Melchor, Benny Melchor, Janie Montoya, y Lupe Kave.
Chemo es antecedido en muerte por sus padres, Benito y Esther Melchor, su hijo Ricardo Melchor, su hermana Basilisa Arreguin, su hermano Moises Melchor, y su yerno Carlos Rivera, Jr.
