In Loving Memory of Lorenzo Elizondo
August 10, 1931 – July 19, 2025

We regretfully announce the passing of Lorenzo Elizondo, of Katy, Texas, on July 19, 2025, at the age of 93.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—just as he
lived: embraced by family and love.

Lorenzo was born in Monterrey, Mexico, on August 10, 1931. After graduating from business school, he
pursued a new life in the United States, first settling in San Antonio, where his strong work ethic and character
quickly earned him the respect and trust of his employer. Though on a path to promotion, Lorenzo chose to
follow his heart and journeyed north to the Great Lakes region, where he found long-term employment in the
steel industry.

His deep admiration for his adopted country led him to enlist in the United States Navy, where he served
proudly from 1953 to 1955. During his service, Lorenzo traveled extensively—from the West Coast to Hawaii,
Japan, the Philippines, and even Hong Kong. He cherished these experiences and often recounted them with
pride, always wearing his Navy cap with honor. The gratitude he received from strangers who thanked him for
his service was a source of quiet joy and dignity for him.

Following his honorable discharge, Lorenzo returned to work in the steel mills and remained there for 35 years
until his retirement. A man of deep passion and vibrant interests, Lorenzo loved music, classic cars, and family
gatherings. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and generous soul who always shared what he had with
others.

In 1957, he met the love of his life, Paula Salazar Elizondo, and they married in 1959. Together, they raised
six children, building a legacy grounded in love, hard work, and faith. Lorenzo was an avid reader, a gifted
storyteller, and a wellspring of knowledge on a wide range of topics. He especially enjoyed classic Western
films, often revisiting them as comforting companions through the years.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his beloved wife Paula; his parents, Christobal Elizondo and Maria Martinez;
his stepfather Arturo Cabriales; his siblings Sergio, Hector, and Amelia Cabriales; and his son-in-law David
Serrano.

He is survived by his children: Arthur Elizondo, Alex Elizondo, Albert & Aracely Elizondo, Natalie Serrano,
Alfonso Elizondo, and Paula & Michael Alpha; his sister, Mague Cabriales Resendez; 19 grandchildren; and 6
great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and unconditional love.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Leal
Funeral Home, 11123 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
Burial with military honors will take place on Friday, August 1, at 12:00 noon at the Houston National
Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
Lorenzo Elizondo lived a full and honorable life—devoted to his family, his country, and his values. He will be
deeply missed and forever remembered.

  3. I knew Mr Elidondo for many years. I would see him in Krogers often where EVERTONE seemed to know him and loved him dearly. He was always kind, even though I’m pretty sure he couldnt remember me as spoke. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who crossed his path.
