MANUELITA MARTINEZ- Better known as “Mema”.
It is with great sorrow the passing of our mother Manuelita “Mema” Martinez after her brave battle with cancer. On February 16, 2024, at the age of 76, with her loving husband Manuel E. Martinez by her side every step of the way, along with their children and spouses Gloria & Ricardo, Edward, Joanne & Eddie, Anita, Jose, Rudy & Wendy, Maria & Jack, Mona & Marcus. Mom was born on March 12,1947 in Sugarland Texas to the late Maria Pasquala and Manuel Martinez. Mom has 10 siblings in all, Paul, Johnny, Jose, Richard, Fernando, and Mary, and preceded in death Antonio, Rodrigo, Eusebio and Lucy. She has 35 Grandkids, 41 Great grandkids with 1 on the way and 4 Great Great grandkids with 1 on the way.
Our mother loved spending time with her family playing “Lotería” Mexican bingo. She also loved going to the Casino to play the slot machines. She always looked forward to family vacations. She also enjoyed bowling, sewing, crafting, and cooking.
Our mother was a sports fanatic; she loved her Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, and the Dallas Cowboys. She spent countless hours cheering on all her grandkids at their own sporting events.
Our mother, she was BEAUTIFUL inside and out, she is loved by so many for her compassionate heart, fairness, and equality to treat everyone the same, and for her unconditional love she gave to everyone! She spread joy, love and happiness wherever she went. She leaves behind a legacy of love and so many great memories that we will always cherish forever.
We will truly miss her, and she will always be in our hearts.
Remember her parting words in her beautiful voice saying!
“Love you more!”

My beautiful “manita”. You will be missed by many, many people. I have many good memories of you, too numerous to share as it would probably fill a book. One memory that does come to mind was of you, Lucy and me on the front porch of Mom and Dad’s house. We were listening to music on the radio and you and Lucy were teaching me how to dance. It was so much fun and our hearts were full of happiness and love. Thank you for all of the memories that we shared, I’ll keep them forever with me. I know that Manuel, my cuñado, was the love of your life and there is no denying that you were both madly in love with each other. We will miss you terribly “manita”, until we see each other again, rest in peace.
A message to my beautiful grandmother I would like to thank you for accepting my mother not only at the daughter-in-law but as a daughter and taking in her children as grandchildren of your own you have shown us so much unconditional love and taught us how not to look at the wrong people are doing but look for the good in people and to always treat them the same to love, to give, and to care for everyone. You were so loved by many..! Thank you for allowing us to see that no matter how bad things look if you love them you stay and ride throughout every storm together and it will make you stronger!! Love you Memaw 💜 Fly high !!
