Jesús Aguilar Medina

Born February 4th, 1947 in ValleHermoso, Tamualipas, Mexico. Son of Isabel Aguilar and
Manuel Medina. Brother to Jaime Medina, Rosa Marquez, Adelfa Balzaldua, and Juanita
Medina. Husband of 59 years to Yolanda Medina. Father to Jesús C. Medina, Nelly Medina
Rodriguez, Juan M. Medina, Cesar O. Medina, Guadalupe Medina, and Irma Y. Medina.
Grandfather to 20. Great Grandfather to 18. Jesús was preceded in death by his parents,
brother Jaime Medina, sister Juanita Medina, sons Jesus C. Medina and Juan M. Medina,
grandchildren Jennifer Rodriguez, Aaron Medina and Norma Rodriguez.
Jesús, better known to many as “Chuy” and “Papa Bear” to close family, was a man of many
roles, all to which he pridefully upheld till his last days. He lived for his convictions as a
God-fearing man, preaching the word of faith, and acting on its sincerity and servitude
through his role as a pastor for his community in ValleHermoso and Houston. Jesús was a
talented baseball pitcher in his youth and a devoted Houston Astros fan.
His values aligned with being an honest and humble man, a man who lived for his family.
Family man is a term not appreciated nearly enough these days. Today, there is more
emphasis to be put on who we are and what we accomplish. Jesus though, was the
epitome of how great and unselfish it is to put those in your family first. A man like that
deserved to enjoy the simple pleasures in life to which he felt whole in sharing with those
he loved, whether it was teaching his children and grandchildren how to make the perfect
masa for flour tortillas, to enjoying his favorite comedy films with his grandchildren, sitting
silently alongside his wife with their morning coffee and pán, and many other indulgences
that will always be an ongoing reminiscent among his loved ones.
We are here today to not only remember his legacy but together unify and embrace one
another, as we are bound by not only his flesh, but also the hugs, the wisdom he shared,
the laughs, the memories, and the reminiscence of his very essence that silently lives
through us.
