Age 80 | Pasadena, Texas
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother,
Guadalupe Garcia, lovingly known as “Granny” and “Lupe.” She left this world
peacefully in the comfort of her home in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 80 wonderful
years.
Guadalupe Marin was born on May 11, 1945, at home at 8714 Leander Street, Smith
Edition, to her loving parents, Jose Marin and Catalina Gonzales Marin. She grew up
in Smith Edition alongside eight brothers and six sisters, building lifelong bonds
rooted in love, laughter, and resilience.
Lupe attended John R. Harris Elementary School and later Deady Middle School.
She made the selfless decision to leave school to care for her ill father, a reflection of
the devotion and strength that defined her life. As a young woman, Lupe and her
siblings enjoyed dancing the night away at the Pan America Night Club and treasured
family outings—from fishing every Sunday at the South Jetties in Galveston, Texas, to
tubing the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, and even an occasional getaway to the
casinos in hopes of hitting the jackpot. In 1966, Lupe traveled to New York, later
returning home to Houston, Texas.
Throughout her life, Lupe wore many hats—daughter, wife, mother, grandmother,
Tia, sister, and friend. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman, employed over
the years at M&M Building, Bayshore Hospital, Surgicare, Doctors, and Pain
Management Consultants. Above all, family meant everything to her. Her doors
were always open, and one of her greatest joys in life was her grandchildren, whom
she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Lupe was a woman of deep faith and a devout
Catholic, who was a faithful member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, where her faith
guided her life and sustained her through every season.
She is survived by her loving children: Theresa Campos, Diana Garcia, Ana Lisa
Garcia-Rangel, and Manuel Jose Garcia III. Her legacy continues through her
cherished grandchildren: Brittany Nicole Reeves, Dominique Desire Martinez,
Johnny Rangel IV, Isis Krichelle Rangel, Manuel Garcia IV, Serena Garcia, Laiylah
Nevaeh Garcia, Devina Hernandez, and Syriana Sanchez; and her great-
grandchildren: Genesis Sargento, Josiah Aguilar, Julian Aguilar, and Jaelyn Jade
Alvarado, with an expecting great-grandson, Danny Nandin Martinez. She is also
survived by her brother, Jimmy “Jimbo” Marin, along with many nieces, nephews,
cousins, dear friends, and all those she welcomed as family.

Lupe was lovingly cared for by her devoted caregivers and cherished son-in-law,
Johnny Rangel III and Xavier Campos, who honored and loved her deeply, cherishing
the ground she walked on. She was also deeply loved, respected, and supported by the
Rangel family, who held her in the highest regard and surrounded her with care,
compassion, and love.
Guadalupe is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Manuel J. Garcia
Jr.; in-laws Manuel J. Garcia and Virginia Alvarez Garcia, her loving daughter, Debra
Ann Garcia, her precious granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Andrade; her parents, Jose
Marin and Catalina Gonzales Marin; her brothers, Reviando, Trinidad, Locario,
Savino, Manuel, Fred, and Joe; and her sisters, Janie, Eva, Celia, Virginia, Julia,
and Olga.
Lupe’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Granny had a
heart of gold, especially for her children’s childhood friends, always opening her home
to anyone in need. She was a special mom to many and loved all, treating everyone
who entered her home as family. She proudly carried her H-Town spirit and had a deep
love and passion for her Houston Astros, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.
She was a true light in this world—filled with warmth, laughter, and fierce love. Her
legacy will live on forever. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
Special Tribute
The Garcia family would like to pay a heartfelt tribute to Deacon Celestino M. Perez
and his wife, Rosalinda Perez, for always being there for our family, offering faith,
guidance, love, and unwavering support.
Closing Blessing
May the Lord welcome Guadalupe into His eternal embrace and grant her everlasting
peace. May perpetual light shine upon her, and may her soul, through the mercy of God,
rest in peace. May her family and friends find comfort in the promise of reunion and in
the love she so freely gave. Amen.

  1. My aunt Lupe, sister of my dad, Savino, you will be missed. I remember visiting at a young age maybe 55 yrs. ago, when Lupe and her family lived on Bonnie. We would not even be out of the car and you were already outside receiving us. And always walked us out to the car when we left. You always had a smile, and brighten the days when it was overcast. You will be missed by many many people.
My sincere condolences to Theresa, Lisa, Diana, and Manuel III. Her love lives in each one of you.
