Leticia Griego Akposheri

Leticia “Lety” Griego Akposheri, age 63, passed away in her sleep on April 19, 2023, due to unknown terminal metastatic cancer that was discovered a week prior to her passing. Lety was born on May 20, 1959, in Canutillo, Texas, to Ignacio and Jesusita Griego. Lety was an extremely special, one of a kind, loving, and devoted woman who spent her entire life dedicated to caring for her family and friends. Those who knew her, knew that she possessed the most welcoming spirit and can attest to the fact that she welcomed everyone she met with a warm smile and a huge plate of whatever meal she had on the stove, but “Menudo” and “refried beans” being everyone’s favorite..Lety was a pillar of her community and will always be remembered for her selflessness. There was not a day that went by that she did not set out to make a good one for herself and those around her. Lety was truly a bright light in dark times, especially for all of her daughters after the loss of her beloved grandson; Daedrian. Lety also believed in living life with no regrets and was extremely passionate about following your heart to figure out where you were meant to be. Lety’s beautiful spirit and kind heart will live on forever in those lucky enough to have met her.
Lety leaves behind her significant other; Fernando A. Martinez, daughters; Utude L. Akposheri, Jessica E. Simon, Melissa J. Griego, son-in-law; James A. Simon, granddaughter; Jalissa A. Martinez, and her great-grandson that she loved more than life itself, Bryson Alexander Acosta, her only sister; Angela Perez, her two brothers; Danny and Jimmy Griego, along with over 30 nieces/nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as several generations of amazing and wonderful cousins (far too many to name) from both the Griego/Lechuga families. Lety is preceded in death by her parents; Jesusita and Ignacio Griego, her grandson; Daedrian “Daedae” Butler, and her brothers; Benjamin and Armando Griego.

We have finalized her Memorial/Funeral arrangements and want to share with everyone the information for her services both in Texas and New Mexico.

Our deepest condolences to all your family, so many fond memories of Letty, growing up, with her sister Angie and her brothers hanging out with my brother, her smile, her laugh, her laugh was contagious. Her friendship, her hospitality just like her Mom, “pasa le, un cafe” How about a cup of coffee, always made you feel at home, regardless what time of the day it was, morning, afternoon, evening or night.
Letty had such a beautiful personality, heart and soul, as we grow up and we all go different direction in life, we always seem to remember and appreciate the memories we have shared with people who have touched our life’s. Our thoughts and prayers are with all her family, and May Letty Rest in Eternal Peace. 🙏❤️
