Rufus Douglas Wheat

Rufus Douglas Wheat, 68, passed on Thursday June 18th at 10:16am. 

Rufus is survived by his loving wife, Linda Marie Hunter Wheat; his daughter, Natalia Inell Tillman; his son-in-law, Jeris De’Leon Tillman; and his grandchildren, Titus Jai Tillman and Zaya Rain Tillman.

Rufus graduated from Galena Park High School and attended Texas Southern University (TSU)through his junior year of college.

Rufus enjoyed a successful career in industrial sales, working for several companies throughout his life. He was known for his ability to connect with people and build strong, lasting relationships. Whether with customers, coworkers, or friends, Rufus valued trust, integrity, loyalty, and treating people with kindness and respect.

For more than 20 years, Rufus faithfully served as the proud Pastor of Church of the Loving God in Cleveland, Texas.

Rufus was caring, supportive, loving, kind and spiritual man! He would like to make people happy and laugh when he was around them. As both a pastor and mentor, he touched countless lives through his encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering faith. 

In his downtime, Rufus loved watching Star Trek and Superman movies. He enjoyed seeing those characters appear in other shows and movies as well. He also loved reading, studying God’s Word, and preparing for his Bible studies and Sunday morning sermons.

Rufus preceded in death by his son Faith David and parents Ida & Roy Wheat, Grandchildren Freedom, Ezra Cai and River Tillman 

Rufus Wheat Viewing and Visitation is on Saturday June 27th from 12pm to 4pm at Leal Funeral Home Service 708 College Ave South , Houston  TX  77587

Dress Code is Business Casual 

Linda Wheat is asking for no food or flowers please. If you would like to do anything a monetary donation would be appreciated and accepted. You can make checks out to Linda Wheat or cash is accepted.
