Sergio Martínez Álvarez

In Loving Memory of Sergio Martínez Álvarez

July 30, 1948 – February 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sergio Martínez Álvarez on February 8, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 76. Sergio was born on July 30, 1948, in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, to the late Humberto Martínez and Agustina Álvarez.

Sergio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who brought love and joy to all who knew him. He was a man of strong work ethic and a generous heart, always willing to give the coat off his back to help a stranger. Sergio gave in a Christ-like way, showing love and compassion to everyone. Though he did not have the opportunity for formal education and began working at a young age to support his family, what he lacked in schooling he made up for with wisdom, extraordinary skills, and a knack for fixing and creating things. He possessed tremendous physical strength, but it was his humility and self-control that truly defined him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Blanca Segura Martínez; his children, Sergio Martínez, Jr., Blanca Robles (husband: Steven Robles), and Augustina Rosenberry Scott (spouses: the late Sean Rosenberry and her current husband, Cris Scott); his grandchildren, Susana Robles, Marcus Robles, Ricky Robles, Sophia Rosenberry, and Elisabeth Rosenberry; and his great-grandson, Sebastian. Sergio is also survived by his cherished siblings: Juan, Alicia, Héctor, Gloria, Carlos, María Virginia, and Javier. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Enrique Roldán, and his siblings Elena, Gilberto, and Luciana.

Sergio’s legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

The family of Sergio Martínez Álvarez would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your sympathy, prayers, and kind expressions during this time of grief. May God bless you all. Funeral arrangements to follow soon.
