Steve graduated from Lamar High School in 1996, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in 2001, and continued his education by earning a Master of Business Administration.

He was blessed with a unique blend of intellect, athletic ability, and leadership. He was called upon to demonstrate his strength and leadership at an early age after his father passed away. Following in his father’s footsteps, Steve developed a deep passion for basketball. He earned a scholarship to pursue his basketball career at Iowa Wesleyan University and later transferred to the University of Houston where he completed his collegiate basketball career. After college, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Kathaleen, and devoted himself to his family. He was a loving father, husband, a cherished son, brother, uncle and a loyal friend to many. Throughout his life, he also found meaningful ways to serve and inspire others.

He founded a youth basketball program, built a local business, and became a decorated basketball coach. Steve coached many successful youth and professional basketball teams. Amongst his many accolades, Steve won a championship as head coach in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Professional league.

Steven grew up with a natural inclination to lift others up. He carried this spirit into his life’s work as a Coach on and off the court, where he was known not just for his expertise, but for his determination and willingness to invest time in anyone seeking advice or guidance. To Steven, mentoring was not a formal obligation; it was a way of life. He had a rare ability to see potential in people that they often could not see in themselves. Whether he was coaching a youth sports team, guiding an athlete through their career, offering a listening ear, or quietly helping a friend in need, his actions were always rooted in deep empathy and a desire to see others succeed. His wisdom, patience, and humor became a guiding light for countless individuals navigating their own paths.

Throughout his life, Steven had a lasting impact on the lives of countless people of all ages. His legacy was not defined only by what he accomplished, but by the people he encouraged, mentored, loved, and inspired along the way.
