Timothy O’Neal Craig, age 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Tim was born on May 8, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Throughout his life, Tim was known for his brilliant mind, remarkable intellect, and endless curiosity. A gifted problem-solver and lifelong learner, he had an extraordinary ability to master nearly any skill he pursued. Whether building, teaching, creating, or fixing, there seemed to be no challenge beyond his reach. He was, in every sense, a true jack of all trades.
Over the course of his career, Tim worked as a cabinet maker, college professor, and welding inspector, bringing dedication, intelligence, and craftsmanship to each profession. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing, watching movies, cooking, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Liliana M. Craig; his children, Ryan (Jodi) Craig and Laura Craig Hayles; his grandchildren, Carter (Crimson) Welch, Anderson Craig, and Jackson Craig; his brothers, Paul (Ava) Craig, Jimmy (Denise) Craig, and Matt (Cathy) Craig; and many other loving family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde O. Craig and Era Ann Craig, and his brother, Mark Craig.
Tim will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, incredible cooking and his gift to find a solution to nearly any challenge. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, and the memories cherished by those who loved him.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The National Spine Health Foundation.
