Arthur Zepeda Jr., age 58, passed away on April 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Arthur was born in East Bernard on April 19, 1965. He did not finish school after meeting his high school sweetheart and eventually embarked on a diverse career path, entering Job Corps of America and specializing in welding. He was a jack of all trades, mastering various skills including mechanics, plumbing, fabricating, electrical work, etc. His hands-on skills were matched only by his creativity, as he took joy in building and crafting projects of all kinds.
Arthur is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ofelia Zepeda, whom he cherished deeply. Together, they raised two daughters, Melissa and Debbie Zepeda, instilling in them his values of love, perseverance, and laughter.
He is remembered fondly by his mother, Sofia Brantley, and his siblings, Graciela Cruz, Salvador Zepeda, Rudy Zepeda, and Robert Zepeda. Arthur also leaves behind three beloved godsons, Salvador Zepeda Jr., Samuel Zepeda, and Gilbert Zuniga Jr., and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family to him. He also leaves behind his cherished grand-pets, Zeus and Kiddie.
Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Zepeda Sr., and his stepfather, Gene Carlos Brantley, affectionately known as “Popo.”
Arthur lived life to the fullest, embracing adventure and new experiences. From falling in love with his high school sweetheart at the age of 15 to becoming a father and experiencing milestones such as skiing in Colorado, skydiving, flying a plane, and ziplining, he seized every opportunity to make memories and find joy.
Despite facing challenges, including a diagnosis of stage 4 Liver Cirrhosis in February 2020, Arthur remained resilient, finding solace in his loved ones and staying busy with numerous side projects. However, his health declined rapidly after contracting pneumonia following a cold, leading to organ failure.
In honor of Arthur’s memory, a celebration of his life will be held at Leal Funeral Home, 708 College Ave, Houston, TX 77587, on April 10, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and April 11, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to his family.
Arthur Zepeda Jr. will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. Although he may be gone, his love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
