Maria DelCarmen Puentes

Maria DelCarmen Puentes, age 57, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in
Houston, TX.
Maria was born on April 20, 1968, in Santa Ana, California to Rafael Orozco Garcia and
Maria Suarez Tapia.
Maria lived her life devoted to the greatest commandment β€” loving God with all her
heart, soul, and mind. Alongside her beloved husband, Mario, she faithfully answered
her calling through outreach ministry, visiting and praying for the sick in hospitals and
nursing homes. Together, they also ministered to the homeless in Houston, offering both
physical nourishment and spiritual encouragement. For a time, Maria and Mario
pastored a church in El Campo, Texas, where they preached the Gospel and baptized
many souls in the Name of Jesus Christ. Maria was a kind-hearted, witty, and intelligent
woman who could brighten any room with her friendly nature and warm smile. She
loved God, her husband, her family, and her friends dearly. Maria’s favorite color was
purple, and she found joy and beauty in sunflowers β€” a reflection of her own bright and
hopeful spirit. Her unwavering faith and compassionate service touched countless lives
and leaves a lasting legacy of love and devotion.
Maria is survived by her husband of 10 years, Mario Puentes; her stepsons, Angel M.
Sepulveda and Daniel (Danny) M. Puentes; her mother Maria Suarez Tapia and her
siblings: brother Rafael Orozco and Yaneth Tapia, along with their children Rafael
Salvador Orozco (and grandniece Camila Isabella Orozco) and Samantha Orozco;
brother Juan Orozco and his wife Angela Cortes, and their children Natalie Angel
Orozco and Johnathan Walberto Orozco; and brother Salvador Orozco and his wife
Susana Lopez, with their children Kassandra (Kassy) Orozco and Alex Orozco.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Octaviano Suarez and
Concepcion Tapia; her paternal grandparents, Concepcion Garcia and Gregorio Orozco;
Father Rafael Orozco Garcia and her youngest brother, Walberto Orozco.
Maria’s life was a true testament to faith, hope, and love, and she will be dearly missed
by all who knew her.
2 Timothy 4:7 β€œI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the
faith”.
