Maria Magdalena Burgos Armijo

Maria Magdalena Burgos Armijo, age 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 23, 1944, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Espiridion Armijo Coronado and Maria Soledad Rodriguez Leal, Maria dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted wife to Angel Luis Burgos Rodriguez, a loving mother to her daughters, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Maria was a wonderful homemaker who embraced life with joy. She enthusiastically supported her grandchildren in all their endeavors, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and celebrating their achievements. Known for her thoughtful gift-giving, she delighted in bringing joy to others with small tokens of affection—a special something, a cup, a trinket. Maria created a warm and loving home for her family. She found joy in traveling to visit her sisters, caring for children (earning her reputation as the “best babysitter in the world” for many families, including her adoring grandchildren), gardening, cooking, dancing, and hosting impromptu birthday parties for her grandkids. Maria was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maria Magdalena Burgos Armijo is survived by her beloved husband, Angel Luis Burgos Rodriguez; her daughters, Veronica Burgos Arcay and her husband Gilberto Arcay, Yolanda Burgos Sedano and her husband Chi Wu, and Sandra Burgos Marquez; her grandchildren, Arturo Marquez and his wife Yoselyn Marquez, Carolina Arcay, Jailene Marquez, Diego Arcay, Alejandro Wu, and Cristian Wu; her great-granddaughters, Amira and Analí; and her sisters, Maria Concepcion, Yolanda, Genoveva, and Maria de la Luz. She was preceded in death by her father, Espiridion Armijo Coronado; her mother, Maria Soledad Rodriguez Leal; and her brother, Jesus Armijo Rodriguez.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM at Leal Funeral Home, located at 708 College Ave, South Houston, TX 77587.

  3. What an incredible life lived by such a beautiful child of God! I know this, because I know her daughter, Sandra, who is a radiant woman of God, like her mother. Sandra’s Jenks family is loving you all and lifting you up to God’s marvelous throne of GRACE! Trust Him, beloved!
