It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maximo Garcia Chapa, who departed this life on May 5, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 87.

Maximo was born on October 25, 1937, in Vallecillo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  He later made Houston his home, where he lived most of his life and built a legacy grounded in love, sacrifice, and hard work.  A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and brother, Maximo was known for his unwavering dedication to his family.  He worked tirelessly through his life to provide for his loved ones, always putting their needs ahead of his own.  

His strength, humility, and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him.  Maximo’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and the value of family.  

He will be deeply missed by all who have had the honor of knowing him. 

Maximo’s legacy will continue through his 5 children, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1great great-grandchild.

Children: son Roberto Garcia, daughter Mirna Matinez & husband Fernando Martinez, son Jose Luis Garcia & wife Diana Garcia, daughter Lorena DeLeon & husband Jesus DeLeon, daughter Irasema Lazo

Great great-grandchild: Yvette

He is now reunited with the love of his life Lupita Garcia whom he was married to for 57 years.  He also reunited with his parents and siblings.  

Visitations for Maximo will be held at Leal Funeral Home, 708 College Ave S, Houston, TX  77587 on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. 

Prayer Service will be at 6:30 p.m. 

Visitations on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

A graveside service will occur Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX  77039.
