Prasert “Alice” Vongvisith

Prasert “Alice” Vongvisith was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on October 29, 2024. Born on February 6, 1940 in Chaiyapom, Thailand. She led a full, fun and adventurous life. Alice

is survived by her two sons Doi and Yut. Her vibrant legacy lives on through her daughter in-laws, Malisa and Kye, and her four grandchildren Jasmine, Jason Kwon and Chai. She also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Mila and another great-grandchild on the way.

Alice came from extremely humble beginnings. Through her work ethic and determination she started her entrepreneurship in the Philippines when she opened up her first Nit Noi Thai Restaurant. That legacy continued on when she came to Houston, TX in 1979 where she elevated the Thai dining experience for Houstonians through her pioneering spirit. She reopened up Nit Noi in 1987 with the help of her younger son, Yut and his wife Kye. Alice was then able to expand Nit Noi Thai Restaurant in the Rice Village with her older son, Doi, as he decided to leave his military service to assist her in running the restaurant along with his wife, Malisa.

In her retirement, Alice enjoyed traveling, shopping, fine dining, and all of the expensive things in life has to offer as long as she was able to share it with her family and friends. Alice was extremely strong and independent woman until her last breath. She was a survivor of her circumstances which shaped her into a beautiful person. Everyone that knew Alice loved her. Her unique personality, generosity, and authenticity are what we will dearly miss about her.

Alice IS considered our matriarch. Through her courage and perseverance she was able to achieve her American dream that was continued on by her two sons and will last for many more generations.
