Federico Nieto

Federico “Lico, El Oso or Chino” Nieto, age 59, passed away on July 18, 2023. He was born on April 2, 1964 in Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico and resided in Houston, TX.

Lico was a hardworking man. He migrated to the U.S. at the age of 14, learned English and worked in an array of jobs. He became a skilled woodworker and even opened his own company installing cabinets in commercial spaces in various states throughout the U.S. and he also opened his own millwork shop. Lico was also able to make his dream of opening a food truck come true.

Lico is survived by his spouse, Nancy and their sons Jhonny and Jayson Charles, daughters, Dana Nieto and Claribel Vega. Grandchildren, Aaron, Jasmanny, Ashton, Maxxis, Kash, Karlo, Aidan, Leilani and Jio.

Lico was the son of the late Maria Guadalupe Saldana Gutierrez and Hilario Nieto. He joins his recently deceased brother Jose “ El Chino ” Nieto. Lico is also survived by siblings Jose Luis Nieto, Alfonso Nieto, Silvia Munguia, Beronica Vences, Yesenia Nieto, Magdalena Sanchez, Marcelino Gutierrez, Arturo Gutierrez, Carlos Villaseñor, his nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Lico was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He always greeted you with a smile and did what he could to not cause any discord in the family. He truly tried to keep the peace with all those that he loved.

In Federico’s honor a viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Leal Funeral Home located at 11123 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079from 1 to 9 p.m. The burial service will be on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery located at 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077. The funeral procession will leave the Leal Funeral Home at 12 p.m. to arrive at the cemetery by 1:30p.m.
