Domingo Velez, affectionately known as Mingo, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 87, in Houston, Texas. He was born in Richmond, TX to Guadalupe and Juan Velez. Domingo was a loving, humorous, kind, caring, strong, gentle, hardworking, and joyful man. He was known for his steady presence and the quiet way he showed love through action. He found great satisfaction in working on cars and building things with his hands, but above all, he loved helping people. Whether family, friends, or those he had just met, Domingo gave of himself freely, always with humility and care.

Domingo was a loyal servant of Jehovah. Baptized on December 24, 1961, he dedicated his life to serving Jehovah and took great joy in doing so. He faithfully served as a pioneer for seven years and deeply loved encouraging others to seek Jehovah and grow in their relationship with him. Alongside his beloved wife, Santa Velez, Domingo faithfully served Jehovah for 64 years. Their marriage and shared service were marked by devotion, unity, and love, and they would have celebrated 49 years together in February.

Domingo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Santa Velez, and his children Kassia, with four children; Albert and his wife Rita, with two children; Nathan, with one child; Daniel and his wife Gloria, with four children and two great grandchildren; Cynthia, with two children and two great grandchildren; Gilbert and his wife Isabel, with four children and ten grandkids and five great grandchildren; Edward and his wife Sara, with four children and eight grandchildren; and Ana and her husband Jose, with two children. His family was a great source of joy and pride, and he loved each of them deeply. Domingo was preceded in death by his children Anita and Juanita Velez, parents Guadalupe and Juan Velez, and by his siblings Elvira, Rachel, Juan, Luis, and Estorjio (Tocho) Velez. Anchored by his faith in Jehovah, Domingo lived a life of purpose, compassion, and quiet joy that touched countless lives.“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

”Revelation 21:4
